Multi Packaging Solutions investment in 3D printing technologies could be a growing trend and lead to new options for packaging.
Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS), a global leader in value-added print and packaging solutions for the branded, healthcare and multi-media markets, has invested in 3D printing technology for creating plastic prototypes.
As an extension to its design services for premium packaging, MPS recently installed the CubeX Duo 3D print system at its design studio in Scotland and now offers customers printed plastic models in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.
The new prototyping capabilities translate product and packaging concepts into tangible models, helping customers visualize the complete product experience. Virtually any 3D object can be printed directly from digital files, reducing the traditional production time from weeks to hours and eliminating the need for expensive test molds, the company reports. 3D printing offers customers more freedom to explore design options and make alterations without compromising product launch schedules.
